Mounting: Drywall on wood studs at 16 inches on center; lag into studs.

Tips before you mount

• Woodbridge and other village associations review exterior changes; get approval before adding an outdoor TV or visible cable entry.
• Tract-home walls in the 1970s and 1980s villages are drywall on 16" studs; lag a 5/16" bolt into two studs.
• Newer villages like Orchard Hills: if building or remodeling, ask for 2x blocking at the TV location before drywall.
• Townhome shared walls: keep fastener length short enough to avoid the neighbor's side of the wall.
• Coastal-influenced inland climate: outdoor TVs still need shade and a rated temperature range during Santa Ana heat.
• Seismic: anchor into studs and strap consoles.
• In-wall runs: use an in-wall rated recessed power kit instead of routing a regular TV cord through the wall (NEC 400.12), with CL2/CL3 rated cable for HDMI and speakers.
