Mounting: Concrete and metal studs.

Tips before you mount

  • Lag the mount into at least two studs, usually 16" on center, with 5/16" lag bolts; an articulating arm leverages far more weight on the wall than a fixed mount.
  • Brick: 1/4" concrete screws or 3/8" sleeve anchors with a hammer drill; avoid crumbling mortar.
  • Plaster: pre-drill slowly; toggles where framing is not available.
  • St. Louis winters freeze and summers are humid; use outdoor-rated TVs on porches.
  • Hiding wires: NEC 400.12 does not permit a standard TV power cord inside a wall cavity, so in-wall power needs a code-rated recessed outlet kit, while HDMI and speaker runs use CL2 or CL3 rated cable.
  • Condos: ask the association about drilling rules and a COI.
